He doesn’t move his mouth all that much in The Artist, but Jean Dujardin made his Oscar-worthy impression on-screen by moving another body part – his feet.

“I learned to tap dance for The Artist,” Dujardin, who picked up an Academy Award nomination on Tuesday for Best Actor for his role in the largely silent film, tells GQ for its February issue.

But it’s not just an act. “I love dancing in general and making girls dance,” adds the Paris native, 39. “My generation doesn’t do it enough.”

And while Hollywood is showing its admiration for the Frenchman – the movie in which he stars is up for 10 Oscars, and already he was named best actor in a comedy at the Golden Globes – Dujardin isn’t about to forget his roots.

“Oh, no,” he says, when asked if he’d ever move to the States. “I am too Parisian. And I think the French would be angry if I left. I hope they would be angry.”
