“Octomom” Nadya Suleman has again found herself in hot water, this time accused of collecting welfare without revealing income from appearances and videos.
The felony charges, filed Jan. 6 by Los Angeles County prosecutors, include one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury. Prosecutors allege Suleman filed for welfare a year ago, and later failed to report $30,000 in income from the first six months of 2013 from personal appearances and residuals from videos.
If convicted, she faces up to five years and eight months behind bars, according to prosecutors.
Jeff Czech, an attorney who has represented Suleman over the years, said he was unaware of the charges and not prepared to comment.
Suleman, 38, who has six other children in addition to the octuplets, has over the years, declared bankruptcy, posed topless, and been to rehab for drug addiction. Her fertility doctor lost his medical license for implanting too many embryos.
Her strange story was even made into a musical.
Suleman is expected to appear in court Friday. Prosecutors say they will ask for $25,000 bail.
