Kerry Washington says she was terrified when she became single earlier this year – but she hasn’t had “one freak date yet.”
The Fantastic Four star, who split from actor fiancé David Moscow in March, tells PEOPLE that entering the dating world was an entirely new experience for her.
“I was always that girl who was in long-term relationships, and I was never really single,” Washington, 30, said this week at theSunshine premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival, for which she served as honorary co-chair.
“I had always met guys in other ways and never really did the whole dating scene where you go out on multiple dates with different guys,” she said. “I am totally the girl who gets introduced to someone through a mutual friend and a dinner party, falls in love and then is with them for like two years.”
But that was then. These days the actress is enjoying her single status – and finding the dating scene a lot less daunting than she had imagined.
“I was scared I would meet really weird men or have all these horror stories, but I have none so far,” she said. “It has all been a lot of fun so far. I’m having a blast meeting people.”
Besides, she added: “No one has to feel sorry for me. I’m not lonely. I have my dog.”
