“I am living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life,” she told the Los Angeles Times in her first interview since welcoming baby Isabelle in April.
While her character on ABC’s political thriller may have a very complicated personal life, Washington, 37, says playing the role of Olivia Pope has rubbed off on her in a positive way.
“She is unapologetically willing to take control of a situation,” says Washington. “I think I’ve learned a lot from her about how to own my own power in a room or in a professional situation. She isn’t afraid to hold her own in a room and I’ve learned a lot from her about that.”
Now with three seasons under her belt, Washington is loving life as the star of the smash hit. One piece of advice she would give herself if she could go back to her pre-Scandal days?
